(296 words) “War and Peace” - a cult novel-epic of Leo Tolstoy, in which eternal social problems and themes are touched. The book presents the characters and fates of more than 500 characters. We can trace the author’s attitude to each character, but Tolstoy does not always categorically say which hero is negative and which is positive, he gives the reader the opportunity to decide how to relate to the characters. However, through parallels and comparisons, we can notice that he feels a special sympathy for one heroine.
Natasha Rostova is a girl with a bright Russian soul, pure and innocent, so close to Lev Nikolaevich himself. The writer draws a portrait, although not complete, but from it we can note that Natasha does not shine with beauty, this is expressed in comparison with the beautiful Helen. Then Tolstoy focuses on the image of the inner world and the experiences of the heroine, in the moments of which her liveliness can overshadow even the cold beauty of Helen Kuragina.
Rostov’s soul is connected with the Russian people, it was important for the author to convey this quality of the heroine, and we can often see this in the novel, for example, her dance visiting uncle. We can notice how the character and inner beauty of the heroine is revealed at the moments of manifestation of patriotism, love for her native country, for the people - this is the charm of Natasha Rostova, this is her charm.
However, like any person, the heroine of Tolstoy is also endowed with shortcomings. Rostov makes mistakes, makes the wrong choice, but even here the writer supports his favorite, he understands and accepts her actions. Even after everything that has been done, Natasha Rostova does not lose those qualities that Tolstoy appreciates so much, she maintains the purity of her soul, reinforcing it now with the strength of mind and life experience.
Classical literature is not subject to time; it allows us to study life on the example of various events and the fate of heroes. So, Tolstoy presented an ideal example of the behavior of a Russian girl, as she, having gone through life's difficulties and having received such a painful experience, did not lose her faith and subtlety.
