(209 words) The story of A. I. Kuprin “Lilac bush” is full of tender feelings and care. There are two main characters in it - Nikolai and Vera Almazov, husband and wife. The man has problems with learning, so he is nervous and not self-confident. The wife, knowing this, tried her best to help: she read to him, drew, reminded of the forgotten. That is, Verochka is the right hand of Nicholas.
The love of the characters can be analyzed based on the works of Greek thinkers who distinguished a huge number of species of this feeling. Among them are Eros (erotic attraction between a man and a woman) and filia (friendships based on help and mutual understanding). In “Lilac Bush” A. Kuprin does not describe the first kind of love between Vera and Nikolai. Whether he is present remains a mystery. However, there can be no doubt that strong friendship binds husband and wife. This can be seen in the example of how Verochka solved the problem with a spot on the drawing, turned into bushes - planted lilacs on that site.
A woman just needs to look at her husband to understand his thoughts and feelings. A. Kuprin points to this at the beginning of the text (when Nikolai comes home after failing the exam) and at the end (when his wife realizes that the trick was a success). Verochka treats her husband’s problems as her own and is ready to sacrifice all her savings for him, never reproaching her beloved. The theme of love in the story is revealed through selflessness and self-sacrifice.
