(398 words) Female images in the novel are bright, memorable. Moreover, each female character is registered with special trepidation, with respect, as if M.A.Sholokhov knows every heroine well and seeks to introduce her to the reader. Among the many heroes, the main female images include: Aksinya, Natalya Korshunova, Ilyinichna and Dunyashka. Due to the long time interval and the tipping points, the personality of each heroine changes and it is interesting for the reader to observe these changes. Thanks to the lively description, they brightly appear before the eyes.
Ilyinichna is the mother heroine, this is exactly what makes her related to Natalia. All her life she suffered abuse and rudeness of her husband, suffered blows and reproaches, but did not even think about leaving her family, because she was a mother. This social role was her vocation, so even the forces leave this woman with her children: Peter dies, then Gregory disappears for a long time, and, finally, Dunyashka violates his father’s ban and marries Koshevy. Having lost children, Ilyinichna slowly fades away, and finally hides Gregory’s shirt under his pillow, remembering him until the last minute of his life.
Her daughter, Dunyashka, went to the Melekhovsky breed and was not as patient as her mother. Unlike her, her daughter rebels and protests against what she does not like. She marries the murderer of her brother against the wishes of her relatives, and then she herself reprimands Mishka for the purity that she does not like the Soviet regime and his service. Of course, true to the traditions of the Cossacks, she does not leave her husband and does not bring the conflict to the maximum, but she always expresses her opinion without fear. Also, contrary to her husband, she saves her brother, warning him of the danger.
Equally proud and adamant is Natalia, the daughter-in-law of Ilyinichna. Despite the appeal of Gregory, she stubbornly awaits his return, and in the finale she declares war on Aksinie at all, says that she just will not give up her husband and will be able to stand up for herself. From a weak and timid girl, she turns into a proud and strong woman. It is no coincidence that her beauty and strength are revealed precisely in motherhood. This is another mother heroine whose vocation is family.
Aksinya, on the contrary, fades away in motherhood, but reveals itself in love and wandering. If Gregory frankly accuses Natalya of not understanding him, then his lover is his like-minded partner in any scam. She goes with him to Berry, then to Veshki, and then wherever her eyes look. This woman with vicious beauty has always found a way to the heart of Gregory thanks to passion and courage.
Thus, the Cossacks in the novel “Quiet Don” are not only the guardians of the hearth, but also individuals who have absorbed all the traditions and customs of the Cossacks.
